The lounge at Terminal 1

There was a time when an airport was a destination in itself. Curved concrete, tube-lit corridors, an ashtray on every armrest.

Terminal 1 at Charles de Gaulle still exists, mostly intact, mostly used, mostly ignored. We spent a layover walking its rings and photographing the empty escalators.

The future used to be beautiful. Somebody should remember.
